In the past, we had to maintain a lot of Figma files for each brand / platform. With the centralised tokens-based library, we managed to keep things really simple affecting the overall time required to create or update white-label designs. It significantly enhanced visual and interaction consistency, strengthening brand recognition and improving the overall user experience. Also, by emphasizing the shared benefits, we achieved widespread adoption across teams, cementing the design system as a cornerstone of our product development process.
It started as my sole contribution, and I laid a solid foundation for our design system. However, as the system grew and scaled, it became essential to build and train a team that could operate autonomously and collaborate effectively with all product designers. This led to the establishment of the UI team, which functions as a horizontal layer, bridging the gap between our B2B and B2C teams. My role was to define our roadmap and help the team achieving their goals.

This exercise was critical in ensuring that our design reflected the evolving brand vision while addressing key accessibility principles. As inclusivity was a core design principle, we introduced accessible UI elements, including a new color palette that met WCAG contrast standards and improved usability for all users. By bridging marketing and product design efforts, we ensured the visual identity was cohesive, creating a seamless and recognizable user experience across all channels.

One of the biggest challenges was demonstrating that the design system is not just a tool for designers but a shared framework for teams across disciplines. Aligning stakeholders across teams was critical to ensuring adoption and success.
As the advocate and driving force behind the creation of our company’s first multi-brand, cross-platform design system, I recognized the need for a scalable solution to address design inefficiencies and inconsistencies across our growing product portfolio.
